Low horizon
Fills the sky
With winter
Coldness sighs
The boughs
Frozen silver
Overhead
Etch a pattern
To catch the stars
Following the moon
To where the sun
Is waiting
Is waiting still
For you

From me
And I’m going to tell you why
I’m going to sing
But you not might like it
You walked out of my heart and
You expected me to understand
You walked out of my heart and
As tho’ you expected an apology
From me
For what else could have I done
Can love ever really do wrong?
I’ve watched walk away twice now
What’s that about
When is enough, enough?
I can’t expect you to understand
But I’m going to sing
And you might not like it
For what else can I do
For loving you?
For what else could have I done
Can love ever really do wrong?
I’m going to sing
But you not might like it
You walked out of my heart and
You expected me to understand
You walked out of my heart and
As tho’ you expected an apology
From me
For what else could have I done
Can love ever really do wrong?
I’ve watched walk away twice now
What’s that about
When is enough, enough?
I can’t expect you to understand
But I’m going to sing
And you might not like it

For loving you?
For what else could have I done
Can love ever really do wrong?

Fanfare
A silent song plays across her lips
Rhythm to a beat within
These words, like kisses, breathe the air
And those missing sounds are a fanfare
To hope on…
To call on…
Not much to go on
Just a wing and a prayer
Just a tune and you’re there
The bar is closing
And there’s a scuffle
As people yell
Blue lights are calling
A different farewell
Last orders are long ago
As the shutters are pulled
Off you go
Into the night
Past the fight
To the taxi rank
But you still see her face
Singing a song, out of place
And you won’t forget
Though it’s not much to go on
To hope on…
To call on…
Not much to go on
Just a wing and a prayer
Just a tune and you’re there
Rhythm to a beat within
These words, like kisses, breathe the air
And those missing sounds are a fanfare
To hope on…
To call on…
Not much to go on
Just a wing and a prayer
Just a tune and you’re there
The bar is closing
And there’s a scuffle

Aphelion
The voyages of constellations
That haven't yet reached our eyes
Are painted in the night ink
Of late Autumn skies
Like words in the wind
They whisper over the lake
All we need is a boat
To reach heaven's gate
That haven't yet reached our eyes
Are painted in the night ink
Of late Autumn skies
Like words in the wind
They whisper over the lake
All we need is a boat
To reach heaven's gate

The Cloud Gazer’s Caution
A knight dressed in armour
Steals out from the castle
Grey daggers under the moon
A wingbeat away from all of his answers
Searching for a truth to hold to
And her eyes are sweet incantations
Calling him to their subtle embrace
He’s lost from the moment
He dares to look into her
Lost in the light and the shade and the lake
People look for a meaning to life
But you look to a life for meaning
What if that road never comes into view
And after all of that searching
You’ve just holes in your shoes?
Travelling light with her ticket and fayre
A sweet wind called freedom plays with her hair
And you think you could find her
Just past the next town
Dancing with bare feet in a grey gown
Long after I’ve stopped looking up to the sky
I know that those clouds will keep passing by
Steals out from the castle
Grey daggers under the moon
A wingbeat away from all of his answers
Searching for a truth to hold to
And her eyes are sweet incantations
Calling him to their subtle embrace
He’s lost from the moment
He dares to look into her
Lost in the light and the shade and the lake
People look for a meaning to life
But you look to a life for meaning
What if that road never comes into view
And after all of that searching
You’ve just holes in your shoes?

At full tilt
(This is from the first time round with One More Windmill...)
Tilting into view
A galactic comet flew
Eyes spitting fire and flame
Burning into mine again
Meteoric rise
Across the skies
But the journey’s the same
One more windmill
And then it’ll be done
But the blades get sharper
And the nights get long
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune
One more windmill for these tired eyes
But the comet has stolen all of the skies
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune
Tilting into view
A galactic comet flew
Eyes spitting fire and flame
Burning into mine again
Meteoric rise
Across the skies
But the journey’s the same
One more windmill
And then it’ll be done
But the blades get sharper
And the nights get long
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune
One more windmill for these tired eyes
But the comet has stolen all of the skies
And out on the edge
Near the stars and the moon
Is the sad lilt of singular tune

Little Metal Letters
Little metal letters
How many have stopped to read
Those little metal letters
Beneath the chestnut trees
And the soft tread of time
Has worn away
What once was a better rhyme
As the conkers fall
Across the call
Of those cemetery lines
Standing testimonial for loves now long gone
We’ve read the prose and lord knows
How time just carries on
How many have stopped to read
Those little metal letters
Beneath the chestnut trees
And the soft tread of time
Has worn away
What once was a better rhyme
As the conkers fall
Across the call
Of those cemetery lines
Standing testimonial for loves now long gone
We’ve read the prose and lord knows
How time just carries on
